Jesus said: “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7.38
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we should all drink from the water of life daily. How can we consume more of it?
To do that we have to first answer the question: Do we drink from the water of life or the water of this world?
His living water and the dirty waters of this world are freely available to us. From which fountain do we choose to drink?
Examine yourself. Which waters do you fill your heart with?
When our hearts are overwhelmed with worldly things, we can quickly become poisoned with unclean waters. The Bible says: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2
When our hearts carry heavy burdens, the first question we must ask ourselves daily is: “From what waters are we drinking?” From which spring do we take it?
We have two different cups that we can drink from. We can drink from the cup of God, or we can drink from this world.
Do you have too much world in the cup? You must separate yourself from the world by feeding the spring of your heart with God’s Word.
We all shall be thirsty for the water of life.
By drinking His waters you can overcome all things. But with drinking worldly waters you will always be defeated.
Waters of life will fulfill you. Drinking a portion of worldly waters will always leave you empty, unsatisfied, and unfulfilled. It’s as if you drink but don’t satisfy your thirst.
We made choices every day so, what are we choosing? To whom are we bowing down? To whom are we submitting?
We cannot expect to be cheerful while riding for the lusts of the flesh: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
When we feed our spirits with worldly things, we will think in worldly ways. When we feed our flesh, we will act according to the flesh. And the works of the flesh are evident: “For the one who sows to his flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Galatians 6:8
Feeding our flesh will leave us weak and we will lack passion for Christ!
When we are feeding our spirits with the Truth, Christ abides in us and we abide in Him. How easy everything seems, when we are doing things by the Spirit, right?
Therefore, follow the true vine, Jesus Christ!
If you are not drinking from that living water, which sustains and fulfills, you’re gonna fall away. That’s why you need to press into the presence of God daily.
Why are we wasting our time on worldly matters? Seek God and follow Him. Make sure you are seeking His kingdom first because in the end, only what we do for Christ matters.
Are we bold, true, and faithful servants who are going into the war with all the helmets of Christ on? Or are we panicking when the waters flow in?
If you are not pressing into the word of God, if you are not pressing into His presence you will be unprepared on the day of the wrath that is coming upon this land. You’re not gonna be ready. And you have no excuse. Because you have everything right at your fingertips. Use prayer time properly. He is our sustainment. He is our fulfillment and He is the only way for us to live. Live for His glory!
Do not be led by the currents of this world, but be led by the currents of the living water. Stop living in fear, and start trusting God.
Swim boldly to the living waters. Don’t swim against it, don’t be rebellious, and don’t swim against God’s will. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
Humble yourself before the only true authority here on earth. Don’t fall into the poisoned waters; instead, let Jesus cleanse you of all sin and unrighteousness.
Confess your sins to Him, and He will cleanse you and refresh you with His renewing water, for He is just and faithful to forgive: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Refine yourself with pure, Holy water and the blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave His life for us.
And most importantly, have faith: “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38
If you are not drinking from that living water, which sustains and fulfills, you’re gonna fall away. That’s why you need to press into the presence of God daily. Do you have too much world in the cup? Go into your secret place; dive deeper into God’s Word, feed your spirit and renew your mind with the Truth; and pray.
